Sugared cranberries are festive, sweet, crunchy, elegant, and snackable! Eat them for an elegant Christmas snack, use them to garnish Christmas cocktails or decorate cakes with a sparkly touch. These sugared cranberries are easy and only use three ingredients!
2 cups of fresh cranberries
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup extra sugar for coating the cranberries
How to make sugar coated cranberries:
First, wash your fresh cranberries then set aside.
Make simple syrup. To use a flavored simple syrup for an extra flavor infusion to your sugared cranberries, try my juniper berry simple syrup!
For a plain simple syrup, put a saucepan over medium heat. Add sugar and water and dissolve for a couple of minutes. Then remove from the heat.
Then pour simple syrup over the cranberries.
Stir to coat.
Then use a slotted spoon to put cranberries in a single layer on a baking rack or baking sheet lined with parchment. Allow to dry. This may take up to an hour. Then when they’re dry but still sticky and coated, roll them into the leftover sugar.
Put the sugared cranberries on a baking sheet to crust up for 20 minutes. Then use to decorate or eat right from a bowl!
