New Year Cookies Recipe | Homemade new year cookies | New Year treats
New year cookies:
3 cups Maida/All-purpose flour
¾ tsp Baking powder
¼ tsp Salt
1 cup Butter unsalted, softened
1 cup Sugar
1 tbsp Milk
1 tsp Vanilla extract
Powdered sugar, for rolling out dough
3 tbsp Meringue Powder
3 ¾ cups Powdered sugar, sifted
6 – 8 tbsp Warm water
Clear almond extract or any extract
Golden yellow food color
Brown food color
In a bowl, sift together maida, baking powder and salt.
In a stand mixer, Add butter, sugar, vanilla extract, milk and egg. Mix well.
Gradually add flour mixture. Mix till it gets together.
Scrape the bowl and mix with spatula. Wrap in a plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hrs.
Preheat oven at 375 F.
Dust surface with powdered sugar and roll the dough into ¼ inch thickness. Cut into desired shape.(If cookies break when removing refrigerate for 5 -10 mins, then move them)
Place them on a baking tray and bake them for 7 – 10 mins.
Remove from oven and let them cool.
Stack the cookies.
In a stand mixer, add meringue powder, sifter powdered sugar and water. Mix until the mixture turns glossy.
Can thin mixture as desired by adding more water or can add more powdered sugar to thicken it.
Divide mixture, we need some white mixture and some in golden yellow.
Thin mixture as desired and add it to piping bag or ziploc. Remove any air and seal the bag.
For golden yellow color add golden yellow food color and a hint of brown color, mix and add to piping bag.
Attach cookies by spreading a layer of royal icing. And stack the cookies.
Add sprinkles and close with another cookie with icing.
When they dry up. Make a circle with golden color. Let it dry for 30 mins or so.
Then fill inside with white color.
Let it dry up for 2 hrs or so.
Use food writer to draw as clock.
Make a mixture of edible gold dust and clear extract. Smear it on golden yellow color to get the shine on cookie.
