As a fruit, blueberry is mainly used in sweet recipes. Pancakes, muffins, tarts, cakes, etc. Today, we are going to turn blueberries into something different; pleasing to the eyes as well as the taste buds. A Blueberry Vinegar. It will add interest to even the most simple salad dressing. To make a blueberry vinegar, you will need white wine vinegar, blueberries- washed and dried and sugar. Place the blueberries in a sterilised jar. In a 3 quarts/ litre saucepan, place the sugar. and pour the vinegar. Take the pan to the stove. Turn the heat on; on high and bring the vinegar to a boil. Turn the heat off. And take the vinegar to the station. Pour the hot vinegar over the blueberries. Allow the vinegar to cool down before putting the lid on. And let stand for 3 days in a cool place.
See you in 3 days. It’s been 3 days. This is the colour of your vinegar after 3 days of steeping. Oh strong! Very nice. We smell the vinegar and the berry flavour. Then we are going to strain it. So place a sieve over a jar or a measuring jug. Cover with a piece of cheese cloth. And strain the vinegar. Look at the colour, its wonderful! Transfer the vinegar into a bottle. I love the colour and the flavour. It’s wonderful! Optionally, add a few blue berries in the bottle to decorate.
Your blueberry vinegar is ready to be used. You may keep it upto 6 months at least. Happy cooking! .
